The Amy styles are the same in the front with the hair parted on the left and hair tied holding the hair off the face on either side.   The regular Amy is long and straight down the back with the hair falling past the small of the back.   The Amy II is shorter with the strands ending in layers just past the top of the shoulders.

The Elaine style is a short, straight style with tips that flip up and out almost completely around the head.  The hair is made from long layers and the tips are slightly flexi as they flip out for movement.   The hair in front falls into the face in shaggy strands that only allowed for some of the left eye to show.

The Vincent style is a short, straight style with a single layer just above the neckline. The neckline itself is clean with smooth edges. The hair in front is parted just left of center with the straight hair falling into the eyes almost completely covering the right eyes.

The Carol style is a medium, straight flip that is inspired by the ultimate TV mom, Carol Brady. The hair in back is straight with some layering until it reaches the tops of the shoulders and then it flips up and out. The hair on the sides are curled under to cradle the face. There is a swoop bang that angles across the forehead from left to right, slightly brushing the right eye. Of the many styles that Carol Brady wore during the duration of the Brady Bunch, this style became the most popular and even today a wig in this style can be bought at costume shops under the name, Carol Brady Costume Wig.

The Lara style is a long, thick braid that falls from the crown, down past the small of the back. The hair in front is pulled back from the face with a few wisp escaping to brush at the cheeks. This style’s name says it all, Lara. It is a perfect replica of the hairstyle worn by Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

Considering it is Christmas this hair seemed perfect to go with the Christmas carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas. How is that you ask? Well, the song has many birds in it and this hair has a bird in it. Perfect. The Duchess style is a pre-revolutionary French style worn by the aristocracy. With hair piled high on the head formed around a bird cage which is embedded into the style above the crown. Curls, the kind my grandmother called banana curls, are optional to frame the face and fall down the back of the neck. The entire style is accented with white bows and topped with long feathers. The bird in the cage is scripted with several choices including a songbird option.

Addendum: I do not normally do this but a question was raised about this style and I wish to point a few things out. No one person owns the idea of having a birdcage in a hairstyle this was common in 18th century for “imaginative ladies to create mini-bird cages complete with birds on top of their heads.” To say that one style copied another because they both contain birdcages is like saying that one ponytail style is a copy of another.

For Halloween we thought it best to review a hairstyle that fit the day. The Cruella Deville is perfect for that. This style, topped with a dalmatian fur hat with holly accent, has the traditional Cruella hair colors of black on right and white on the left side of the head. As in the films, the hair is wildly spiky with hair sticking up in pieces over the hat. The remainder of the hair falls straight to the shoulders. Luckily, you do not have to even worry about finding a costume to match this style because it comes with everything you need to be Cruella DeVille including the dalmatian fur coat.

The Princess Leia Slave style is a perfect replica of Princess Leia’s braid from the Jabba scenes in Return of the Jedi. It is a long braid that has been wrapped several times at the crown to form a braided bun and then falls down the back right side to the waist. The front of the style is pulled smoothly back into the crown with a few wisps of hair falling just in front of the ears. There is a separate helm with intricate design of leaves and berries that can be worn when you are feeling like Leia or not at all when you want to wear this braid for regular use. Having the Princess Leia hair I had to go all out and buy the Prim Couture Princess Leia costume to go with this. The entire ensemble is a Sci-Fi geek’s best dream.
